Mather Vernal Pool Flower Walks

Sunday, April 9th at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm

Join Sacramento Splash for a 2-hour tour of the Mather Field vernal pools. As the spring sun warms the earth and the pools evaporate, the wet phase gives rise to the flower phase. Each pool has its own assortment of flowers depending upon the soil, hydrology and many factors we don't yet understand. They change from week to week as the pools dry up. During the month of April, flowers bloom in an ever-changing abundance of colorful rings and we want you to see it! These unique wildflowers bloom only for a brief period in the spring. Reservations are required. For more information and to sign-up, visit sacsplash.org's vernal pool flower walks or call 916/364-2437. Tickets are free.
